Don't Disarm Parts on MIDI Stop when Externally Sequenced
Posted by: drGrov - 02-03-2019, 04:53 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (7)

Hi,

Currently, when driving the NDLR from an external sequencer, the NDLR disarms all the parts when it handles a MIDI stop message. I'm finding it a bit frustrating as I have to remember to re-arm the particular parts when re-starting the sequencer. Could we have the option so the NDLR doesn't do this? It should still do everything else it does on a stop message (e.g. release any held notes on all parts), just leave the arm state of each part alone.

Cheers,

Ian

  velocity control on drone
Posted by: funktree - 02-02-2019, 10:43 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (7)

There is no way to alter the velocity of the drone.
Is there anything that could be done about that ?
Thanks

double the humanization with note length variation
Posted by: funktree - 02-01-2019, 09:34 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (3)

This only applies to MOTIF tracks.

Yes we can create new rhythmic patterns where we use the TIEs to make the NOTE-ON/OFF interval longer. I’m already running out of slots doing that.Smile

What would really help is to double the humanize range from 1-10 to 1-20 with the second half randomizing Note duration too.
so values 1-10 would still do Velocity/Timing (Not sure if timing is there already)
and values 11-20 would add note duration randomization with focus to shorten notes rather than make them longer.

....Another option would be to add a new destination called "Note length” to MOTIF sections ...But that would take 2 of precious slots
away.

Thanks!

  more slots to save setting
Posted by: funktree - 02-01-2019, 09:20 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (5)

I know Darryl said that the NDLR chip has some limitations with memory when I asked  to save more than 8 “System" setups
I’m not sure if “teensy” is on a separate board inside of the NDLR. If yes then we could just pop-in a more powerful teensy board.
If teensy is on the main PCB then I would pay (kickstarter) for “upgrade” to better CPU with more memory. SO we can get less latency when using as MIDI THRU and get more setup slots. And I would call them session slots.

Also the setup slots could be alphanumeric (yes I know more bytes per slot) so I can have them as SONGS or sessions.

How about having "floating storage boundaries"  for the biggest memory consumers: rhythmic pattern, melody pattern, setup slots
For example I hardly use melodic patterns, But I do a lot of rhythmic patters so I could use more memory for rhythms and setup slots)

Thanks!

is this a behavior ok ?
Posted by: funktree - 02-01-2019, 08:08 AM - Forum: General Support - No Replies

Since I’m having trouble to control Chord type/degree from external Keyboard with newest firmware I came with alternate cool method for NDLR to play two chords automatically:

1. Pick a mod slot and set it to 8 or 16 bars Square
2. Set destination to the chord degree
3. Set the range to go between 1-IV (0-2 or C<->F in C major)
4. Set the drone trigger to be chord based type (follows the chord degree) and activated on the first 1/4 note)
5. turn on PAD,DROne and perhaps one Motif
6. The chord degree changes every 4/8 bars and Motif and Pad play nice changing degree

BUT!t The Drone is delayed by half of bar with the chord note change
Bug or desired behavior or I don’t know what I’m doing

The desired behavior is that all 4 parts change the chord degree at the same time

thanks!

  External trigger timing
Posted by: oldgearguy - 01-30-2019, 03:54 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

I set up a pad and a drone on the NDLR (running the shipped OS, not beta - my Mac is at 10.6.8, so have to do the upgrade on my Windows machine later, but I digress...).

The pad and drone MIDI channels are the same (triggering an MKS-20).  Drone is set to chord mode, all empty boxes.
Tempo is set to 72, Pad quantization set to 1/4 note.
If I start the Drone running and press a key on my external MIDI controller (a PPG - don't ask), I immediately hear the Drone triggered.
If I stop the Drone and start Pad and trigger it, I can hear the start being quantized to the quarter note.  It's especially noticeable if I have both Drone and Pad on - you can hear one triggering later than the other for most key presses.

Is the Drone supposed to be independent like that?

  MIDI channel for NDLR Transpose
Posted by: tebers - 01-28-2019, 06:06 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (9)

Hi, I am struggling with that to setup , somehow or doing something wrong or even maybe misunderstand the whole thing of it.

MIDI channel for NDLR Control worked out and is really cool.

I have a MIO10 midi patchbay an use the Elektron Analog Key (AK) with its external keyboard mode and set the xternal channel to 16.
NDLR sends a out all on MIDI A and the patchbay send all incoming to the other synths.

Using channel 15 for NDLR ctrl on the AK in external mode and depening on what white or black keys i pressed it changed it chords and degrees.

On the other hand with channel set to 16 I do not hear any transpose going on , nor something played from the notes I pressed on the keyboard ?

Any advise or example ? need more info about my setup ?

Dimension of Screws for mounting sides
Posted by: mrbrick - 01-27-2019, 07:02 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Hi,
looking for info on what the dimension of the screws to get for mounting sides on the NDLR. What about the threads(Is there a DIN-number?) and depth of the screw?

Hope someone here knows...

Hi ,
can you implement something like a srceensaver for the OLED ? Something like :

if for 10 sec no input has been done on knobs or encoders reduce the brilliance and after 60 sec turn of the display and maybe have settings for these 2 stages .

Advantage  longer live for the OLED and reducing the burn-in off ghosting.
