Not a Mac person, but when you say can't get Teensy to run, you are talking about the Teensty firmware loader app for the Mac, right?

On the Teensy loader page for Mac:https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/loader_mac.html it says you are running a "disk image". So you downloaded the teensy.dmg. When you double click it, what happens?

Do you get an error message? What is it? Can you post an image of what you see, then maybe someone with Mac experience can chime in if I can't figure it out.

Thanks!  yeah, i get that far but it wont let me find the .hex file.  I've downloaded it but its not even an option for me.  tbh, I've never had much luck with Arduino based software.

Unfortunately, the instructions don't show what browsing for a file looks like. I suppose you have to save the file to a place that lets you browse to it.

According to the instructions, another way to pick the .hex file is to drag and drop it onto the Teensy loader. If you can't find the .hex file, download it again and save it to somewhere easy to find. Extract the .hex file from the ZIP file. Then drag and drop it onto the running Teensy loader program.

On the Mac, click on the Downloads icon and choose "Open in Finder". Then you'll get a traditional list of everything in the Downloads folder. At that point, grab the .hex file and drag and drop it onto the Teensy app.

Thanks for the help guys! I appreciate it. I think I got it but had to take a different route. Couldn't upload it as it wouldn't find the file when i went to look for it. Instead I just dropped it on Teensy and then hit the reset button on the NDLR with a pen. started up with the new firmware.

so it looks like its problem solved.. at least i hope haha
