New extras - MIDI cable tester
#1
Sometimes something doesn't work and it makes no sense unless the cable must be broken.

New extras function would allow to specify input and output DIN ports and then send data from the output and evaluate if it is received at the input correctly, or if the data didn't make it through the cable.

This is a great idea.
The M-Audio MidiSport 8x8 has this on it's front facing Midi In/Out (port 8).
I have caught many cable issues this way and it is a lot easier to do than using a continuity tester.
Its a great thing to test all your cables before you start a recording session and be confidant it is you that has screwed up the connection.

Perhaps use MRCC Midi In 1 and that would work for the TRS cables.
The Midi Out could be 10 DIN and 11 for the TRS

All the best
