  MIDI Clock issue
Posted by: Tugdual - 01-26-2025, 01:41 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

I’m encountering an issue with the MIDI clock that I can’t quite figure out. I use The NDLR as the clock master and a mioXL to distribute its USB output to all devices that need to sync. However, in this setup, only about 50% of my devices respond to the clock signal.

Here’s the odd part: if I unplug the USB cable from a non-functioning device (let’s call it Device A) and plug it into a functioning device (Device B), Device B syncs perfectly. This suggests that the cables and mioXL routing are fine.
When I switch to using my DAW as the clock master (with a different mioXL configuration), everything works flawlessly. This leads me to suspect that there’s something unusual about the MIDI clock output from The NDLR that I can’t explain. MIDI clock should be one of the simplest things, right?

I conducted another experiment: one of the machines that doesn’t sync to the NDLR’s clock can still play a motif perfectly. However, when I filter out all MIDI messages except the clock (including note ON and OFF messages), it still doesn’t sync. How is it possible that this machine receives the clock signal from the DAW without any issues, but not from The NDLR?

Unfortunately, I don’t know how to monitor or “spy” on The NDLR’s MIDI output directly, but I suspect it might be sending messages that some devices can’t handle. For example, I noticed a delay pedal changing its configuration even though it wasn’t mapped to any MIDI channel on The NDLR. I resolved that issue by drastically filtering out everything except the clock signal, and the pedal behaved normally after that.

  How to clear bad USB?
Posted by: equant - 01-26-2025, 10:07 AM - Forum: General Support - No Replies

I plugged in a USB midi device (keystep pro with no external power), and got an orange USB light.  I then unplugged it and the orange USB light stays on.  I now have external power to my keystep pro, and when I plug it into a difference usb, I get a green led.  However, the original usb with the orange led is still orange and won't recognize a new valid usb midi device.  Is there a way to clear it without cycling the power?  Thanks.

  Custom routing by MIDI channel
Posted by: NYCMusic - 01-14-2025, 07:22 PM - Forum: MRCC Advanced Configuration - Replies (5)

Hi all,

(somewhat related is this post)

I'd like to do a few things with my MRCC route, but the first one seems straight forward but I can't figure out if it is possible.

I have my sequencer on an input (IN 5 I think, but doesn't matter). It sends different tracks to different MIDI channels.

I've put my main devices on MIDI outs 1-6. Using the C-P1 (Channel to Port Mapping) filter on MIDI in 5, I am able to get the MIDI channels 1-6 routed to MIDI Outs 1-6, and messages remapped to channel 1. That's fine and all - but not what I need, because some of my synths are multitambral.

What I really need is the ability to map any input MIDI channel to any output physical port and MIDI channel. This should be for everything for that channel. Additionally, I would like to be able to send global messages or filter them.

So, basically:

In Port 5 MIDI channel 1 -> Out Port 1 MIDI channel 1
In Port 5 MIDI channel 2 -> Out Port 2 MIDI channel 1
In Port 5 MIDI channel 3-6 -> Out Port 3 MIDI channels 1-4
In Port 5 MIDI channel 7-8 -> Out Port 4 MIDI channel 1-2
In Port 5 MIDI channel 9 -> Out Port 5 MIDI channel 10
In Port 5 MIDI channel 10+ -> Out Port 6 MIDI channel 1+

It's sort of like a C-P1 on steroids.

Conductive Labs Forum - Category Prefixes
Posted by: RadekPilich - 01-14-2025, 10:57 AM - Forum: Synths and Gear News, Discussion - Replies (2)

Dear admins, could you please add NDLR / MRCC / 880 prefixes to all category names so it is easy to see to what device a given topic is related to when looking at the New Posts / Today's Posts?

So rename the General Support in the NDLR category to NDLR General Support etc.

Thanks.

  MRCC 880 help please
Posted by: Morro24 - 01-12-2025, 02:05 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Purchased MRCC 880 to connect the following equipment:

Arturia AstroLab
Arturia Minifreak
Native Instruments Maschine Plus
Focusrite Scarlett 18i16 Audio Interface
Kali Audio IN-5 Speakers

All the Equipment works great and we have sound out of the speakers through the Scarlett.

I need help though with the MRCC 880 and midi setup so all the three hardware stuff above work together.

1. Do you route all MIDI OUT from the 3 devices to the MIDI IN into MRCC 880?
2. Do you route all MIDI IN from the 3 devices to the MIDI OUT into MRCC 880?

I don’t then understand what the MiDI settings should be for each individual piece of hardware, it’s frying my brain.

Would also like to know if i got the FIRMWARE installation right?

The 1st time after I followed the instructions and I put pin into the machine it went green to input no 4 permanently.

I did not think this was right so started the process again and when I put the pin into the the machine it flashed colours went green and blue from 1_8 and stayed on in no 1 green.

So i don't know if this worked or unit is working?

Help would be more than appreciated.

Transpose stops working after exactly 15 notes
Posted by: pdusen - 01-12-2025, 11:22 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

I have a newish MRCC updated to the current firmware. I'm using it to connect some MIDI organ pedals to an MPC One+ for sample triggering.

I have the pedal output connected to the MRCC'S input 1, and the MPC connected to Output 10. I am routing from input 1 to output 10, and the only modifier is Transpose #1.

I have observed that the first 15 notes I press on the pedal always transpose correctly, but the 16th note, and every note thereafter, always reverts to the original note output by the pedal. It doesn't seem to matter which notes I press; I can play the same note or multiple different notes, but Transpose always stops working after 15 notes. I haven't seen this behavior in the midi pedal itself when connected straight to the MPC; it outputs the same note consistently.

MRCC with StreamDeck Midi plugin - reltated to Midi Port Naming
Posted by: MR.E - 01-06-2025, 03:29 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

Hi Darryl,

MRCC + remote7 + 4x  xpandr
Stream deck+ and stream deck xl
Macbook M1 2020. ventura 13.7.1

recently i added a streamdeck + (with the encoders) and tried to programm Midi cc across multiple mrcc PC-ports
apparently the stream deck midi plugin is confused because all mrcc ports are named "mrcc" without any numbering

- streamdeck displays that i selected the second or third mrcc port in the list (see screenshot) but outputs midi only on first port, no matter the setting
- streamdeck works fine as soon as i use ports where the ports are named differently. (ipmidi for instance)

i read that was an issue before, i tried 1.1.075 and 1.1.077 which still appear without any portnumbering

can this be set somewhere (hacking a config file or the like) or can you pls revert back to mrcc-1...mrcc-x numbering

thank you
mario

MRCC Request - Note Map - Reverse keys
Posted by: RadekPilich - 01-04-2025, 03:46 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - No Replies

What Espen did might not give the same results as sending reverse note numbers for keys, but the creativity aspect is the same.

Should reverse the note numbers and have one additional "offset" parameter to shift the most rightside note from which the 1, 2, 3 renumbering of notes would happen.

  MRCC and Ableton Live 12
Posted by: crx091081gb - 01-02-2025, 05:36 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

When I set up Midi tracks input or output to use the MRCC everything works till I save my set then come to open up again. The MIDI input/output selector text appears grey and I have to reselect the MRCC port and channel. This doesn't happen in Live 11 but also doesn't happen in Live 12 with my other MIDI devices, only the MRCC. So I can't tell if it's a Live 12 bug (of which there are many) or an MRCC bug but I'm here to ask if anyone else has the same problem and if they've found a solution. I'm on Windows, MRCC firmware 1.1.077.

Video NDLR Explorations
Posted by: ManicModular - 01-01-2025, 07:36 PM - Forum: Show me what you got! - Replies (2)

Hi folks,

New user to the forum but been using my Rev 1 NDLR (from the old kickstarter days) in my Eurorack setup for quite a while now so thought I'd share a few compositions. Plenty of tracks on my channel using the NDLR ranging from plucky arps to long ambient pad type tracks.
Happy New Year and keep on patching Smile
